Rajiv Gandhi Born on 20th august, 1944, Mumbai, was a famous political leader and professional Pilot for Indian airlines.  At the age of 40, Rajiv became prime minister of India from 1984 to 1989 after his mother’s death; he was the youngest and 7th prime minister of India, as a Prime Minister he  made a valuable contribution in modernizing Indian administration. He had the vision to see that information technology will play a vital role in the 21 century and worked hard to develop India's capacity in this Field.


Rajiv Gandhi was born in India's Great political family. His grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru was the Indian independence leader; he was the first Prime Minister of India after independence. His mother’s name was Indira Priyadarshini and his father’s name was Feroze Gandhi. Rajiv Gandhi did his schooling from the elite Doon school after that he travelled London to study A-Levels. In 1962, He was offered a place at Trinity College, Cambridge in Britain to study engineering; there he met an Italian student Sonia Mainao, fall in love with her and in 1969, they got married.

After he returned to the India, Rajeev Ghandi became a Professional pilot of India Airlines. Sanjay Gandhi, his younger brother entered politics and became an assistant of her mother Indira Gandhi Sanjay's died  in 1980, after his brother death , Rajiv gandhi  entered politics at the instance of his mother.  In 1981, He won his first Lok Sabha, later with in a short period he holds a position as General Secretary of the Congress Party. In 1984 he became the Prime Minister of India.

Rajiv Gandh improved mutual relations with the United States and expanded economic and scientific cooperation and also he increased government support for science and technology and associated industries, and reduced import quotas, taxes and tax on technology-based industries, especially computers, defense, airlines, and telecommunications. In 1986, Rajiv declared that a National Policy on Education to Improve and expand higher education Programs in India.


In 1986, he established the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya System, which is a Central government based institution that concentrates on rural areas sections and provides free residential education from 6th till 12 grades.


While campaigning for elections in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, Rajiv Gandhi was killed on 21 May, 1991 by a women suicide bomber belonging to LTTE.
